Corporate Pride plays are so consistently problematic it's become a meme. So how does an undercard wireless brand show up for the LGBTQ+ community in a meaningful way? With an intergenerational Pride game show, of course!
“No Straight Answers” saw senior social media darlings @TheOldGays listing neopronouns while their twenty-something counterparts The Young Slays pondered the origins of the Pride flag. Hosted by a prosthetic-chinned Benny Drama— err... Brock Stockton, this social-first partnership was a history lesson posing as a game show (that was actually just a big party).
I named it; I developed the games, the questions, and the answers (rather than a true game show with contestants giving spontaneous answers, this was technically an ad and needed full legal approval); and then I wrote the script (which had to be brand-safe but still funny and authentic to the community).
(Can you imagine a straight man writing a script that both the queer community and the legal department approve? Me neither lol 💅)
Alongside the full 6-minute show, we made the most of our cast of influencers by having them post personalized moments on their individual channels, which allowed us to reach a diverse network of audiences no single partner could have reached alone — 15.2M+ potential accounts in total.
